Robert G. Alley, CFA* is a retired Chief Fixed Income Officer and Managing Director for AIM Advisors (currently Invesco). He was responsible for managing domestic and international fixed income portfolios, and supervised investment teams that utilized fundamental and quantitative research techniques to help produce consistent and superior performance. Robert received his MBA in Finance at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and his BA Degree in Economics from the University of Missouri, Columbia. Robert is a CFA charterholder.
Dan Bender, MBA, CFS, BCE graduated from the University of Nebraska with a B.S. in Business Administration and holds an MBA from the University of Texas San Antonio. He began his financial services career in 1985 as a financial advisor with CIGNA. Within two years, Dan became the financial planning manager and investment specialist for the CIGNA San Antonio office. After transferring to Houston in 1996, Dan co-founded Johnson Bender & Company where he provided investment and estate planning services to his executive and business owner clients. In September 2013, Dan joined MBR Financial as a Principal. Dan is a Certified Funds Specialist (CFS®), and is Board Certified in Estate Planning (BCE) by the Institute of Business and Finance.
Trey Brady graduated from University of Texas with a BA in Economics and holds an MBA with concentrations in accounting and finance from A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University. After spending two years at Ernst and Young as a Management Consultant, he began his financial planning career with CIGNA in 1990. There, Trey developed a practice that served corporate executives, professionals and business owners. In 2000, Trey joined Stavis Margolis Advisory Service as a shareholder and Principal. He transitioned into the role of Managing Director after the firm was sold in 2005. In 2010, Trey co-founded Margolis Brady Financial embracing the move back into an independent firm. Mary, Trey and Suresh merged their practices together in September 2011 to form MBR Financial.
Ed Guay* is a principal of Wintonbury Risk Management, a political, economic, investment, and business risk consultancy. He retired from CIGNA after a 30 year career, serving as Chief Economist and Senior Managing Director. Ed is a global macro strategist, seeking to accurately predict major shifts in business, financial, and political conditions and the resulting impact on markets. Ed holds a BS in International Relations from Georgetown University and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
Mary Margolis graduated from Duquesne University (BS in Business Administration). She began her career at Price Waterhouse as a CPA and later served as a divisional controller with Sony Corporation. In 1991, she joined CIGNA as a financial advisor and co-founded Stavis Margolis Advisory Services in 1996. In 2005 a regional bank purchased the firm, where she stayed on as a Managing Director. In 2010 she co-founded Margolis Brady Financial to cater to the sophisticated planning and investment needs of top level executives, entrepreneurs, retirees and their families. Mary, Trey and Suresh merged their practices together in September 2011 to form MBR Financial. Mary is a CFP®, CPA and a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS), a sub-specialty of the CPA designation.
Mark McMeans* is CEO and founding partner of Brasada Capital Management, an investment management firm in Houston, Texas. Prior to founding Brasada, Mark worked for sixteen years at AIM/Invesco, most recently as a Global Partner. Mark received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin, where he currently serves on the Advisory Board for the MBA Investment Fund, LLC. He also earned a Master of Business Administration degree, with a concentration in finance, from Rice University where he serves on the Oversight Board of the M.A. Wright student-managed fund. Mark is a CFA charter holder, a CPA and a current officer of the CFA Society of Houston, where he co-chairs the Society’s Scholarship Committee.
Harshad Patel* is an experienced professional in reservoir management. Harshad holds a BS in Engineering and a Law degree from M.S. University in Baroda, India, and a Masters in Chemical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. Harshad is an investor with over twenty-five years of experience in financial markets and has had ownership in businesses of various sizes and industries. He has spent time abroad in Asia and the Far East including his latest venture at Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Suresh Raghavan, CFA graduated from the University of Chennai, India with a Bachelors degree in Commerce and an MBA from Syracuse University. Suresh began his career in accounting and audit, served as a fixed income analyst at Schroder Capital and at CIGNA where he managed portfolios in fixed income, emerging markets and served on the asset allocation committee. In 2003 he brought an institutional discipline to Stavis Margolis Advisory Services, serving as the CIO until 2010 when he formed Raghavan Financial, Inc. Mary, Trey and Suresh merged their practices together in September 2011 to form MBR Financial. Suresh is a CFA charterholder and serves on the the City of Houston's Investment Advisory Committee as well as the Treasurer for Houston Arts Alliance - a public private partnership for furthering the arts in the City of Houston.
Ronald Stapleton,* CFA is the Managing Partner and CIO for Partners Advisors, a privately held investment practice specializing in managing fixed income portfolios. Prior to forming the firm, Ron was Manager-Fixed Income for Shell Oil Company. In this capacity, he oversaw $1.5 billion in fixed income assets for the Shell Pension Trust and personally managed the internal bond portfolios. Ron has a BBA from the University of Notre Dame, a MBA from California State University of Sacramento and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. He is a member of the CFA Institute and a Past President and Director of the CFA Society of Houston. He currently serves as a member of the City of Houston Investment Advisory Committee.
